Embodied Love & Weather

Below is the short version of what this blog is about. For the longer version, click here.

What if every moment of life had purpose and undertones of love? What if we embodied and received love in the way we answer phones and do the dishes and create budgets and structure our days? I’m not looking to write a social justice blog or a Christian life blog or a political opinions blog. In this blog, I want to re-imagine what embodied love looks like in a culture where we seem to designate a fuzzy version of love and purpose only for specific sectors of our lives. I want to see purpose in all aspects of life, from the mundane, to the painful, to the whimsical, to the glorious.

This blog will also include explanations of weather phenomena. I’d love to tell you that I will explain how weather can teach us valuable lessons about the way the world works and our place in it. Like, “isn’t it amazing how the seasons change? Ah, such is life.” Or, “The storms and dark days remind us of the hardships of life. But always remember that the sun will soon shine.” If you really want that just go to a PNW coffee shop, listen to the moody folk music for a half-hour, and you’ve heard most of the exhausted metaphors that weather has to offer. (I love that music, don’t misread me).

The truth is, I’m just sad that talking about the weather is the textbook example of small talk. It’s like, everyone brings it up all the time, but no one actually wants to talk about it! Why?! I do!

Honest internal thoughts: “Finally, something I can contribute t- oh we’re moving on because you just used one of my greatest life passions as a stepping stone to some other lame topic. Snubbed again!”

No more! I make the rules in this place. Here, we talk weather.

Ultimately, I need to write these blogs for my own sake. I need to read them more than any of you. So, this blog is like 90% for me. But if you like it, I invite you to be the 10% of my reason for doing this. And I invite you to explore with me embodied love, and the glory weather has to reveal.
